Established in 1979 by the Ballarat Aboriginal community in the Ballarat district, BADAC’s vision is to be the strongest voice and presence in the Ballarat area, supporting and respecting their people, enhancing our community, growing their culture and honouring their heritage. BADAC is the Aboriginal Community-Controlled Organisation (ACCO) for the Ballarat and District area, covering 4 local government areas (LGAs). The organisation is extremely proud of the contribution and support they have provided the local Aboriginal community over the past 40 years delivering a comprehensive range of health, social, welfare and community development programs to local Aboriginal people.

The Opportunity
The role of the SEWB Services Manager is to provide a comprehensive and holistic mental health (MH) and alcohol and other drugs (AOD) service within the context of an Aboriginal Controlled Community Organisation whose focus is on improving the well being of the local Aboriginal community and their family.
The SEWB Services Manager will provide the managerial function of the service, ensuring that a culturally safe and competent MH and AOD workforce is providing evidence based, family inclusive, culturally informed and holistic care to improve not only their well being but all aspects of their life. The role will require the SEWB Services Manager to routinely work under the direction the Chief Operations Officer in ensuring SEWB Services meet community and funding orgainisations expectations and requirements.
The role will provide directive, leadership, expertise, supervision and mentorship to other members of the Social and Emotional Wellbeing Service and management team at BADAC.
The incumbent will need to be highly motivated, enthusiastic & have a sound knowledge of Aboriginal culture & an ability to communicate effectively with Aboriginal people. The incumbent will need to exhibit leadership and management skills, and display a high level of clinical expertise.
We currently have an opportunity for a committed SEWB Manager to join our SEWB team on a Full Time Ongoing basis (9 Day Fortnight negotiable).

- Ensure the service provides evidence-based, best practice and culturally informed MH and AOD services including clinical assessments & treatments in accordance with community, funding and legislative requirements.
- Provide managerial responsibilities including but not limited to: recruitment, supervision, disciplinary and complaints procedures, service development and innovation, quality improvement, monitoring of legislation requirements, and service promotion.
- Routine development, implementation & review of MH and AOD programs and practices.
- Maintain statistics, records and outcome measures reflecting the expectations and required standards.
- Provide service delivery reports and record statistical data for funding and reporting requirements as requested.
- Provide leadership, supervision and mentoring of other BADAC staff and managers to maintain and develop a high-quality service.
- Participate in senior clinical and managerial activities at the request of the Executive Team.
- Maintain strict standards of confidentiality and act at all times in a professional manner in accordance with the policies and procedures of BADAC.
- Establish & maintain effective & appropriate inter-agency professional relationships through participation in service meetings and focus groups and provision of education programs.
- It will be a requirement to actively participate in senior staff meetings, support the BADAC Executive during times of high demand and leave. Attend any other relevant meetings, including senior staff development sessions, supervision and organisational events.

Key Selection Criteria
To be considered and successful in this application, you will need to have the following:
- Relevant professional qualification in management, mental health & current National Registration.
- At least 5 years mental health and managerial experience in a senior role. Experience in leadership and an ability to manage a substantial budget, supervision and mentoring of staff.
- Must have advanced knowledge & skill in the delivery of culturally informed, evidence-based & best practice services for clients presenting with a broad range of mental illness & emotional distress.
- Must have highly developed communication, leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with key stake holders such as government agencies, health services, non-government services, clients, families, colleagues and other health service providers.
- Demonstrates knowledge of relevant legislation, including Mental Health Act, MARAM Framework, policies governing practice standards, including the National Standards for Mental Health Services & the National Practice Standards for the Mental Health Workforce (2002).
- Ability to recognise & co-ordinate clinical responses within an interdisciplinary context on a daily basis.
- Excellent computer and analytical skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional and managerial development.
