About the Role:

This is a Permanent Full time position that exists as part of the Division of Surgery to provide a comprehensive education program for undergraduates, qualified Technologists, and within the Royal Children’s Hospital.

You will be responsible to lead in the educational activities of the Medical Imaging Department (MID), facilitating the coordination of students assigned to the RCH. You will also be responsible for providing education opportunities for qualified Medical Imaging Technologists as well as other disciplines within RCH. Together with the Chief MIT, you as the Tutor Medical Imaging Technologist, assisted by the Clinical Educator, will be responsible for encouraging and facilitating the continuing professional development of allied health professionals within the MID. You will be expected to play a leading role in the provision of a best practice imaging service to patients, families and referring specialists.

The position is also responsible for supporting the Director’s leadership role in education and administrative functions. In addition, the Tutor MIT will participate in the day-to-day service provision of the MID. You will foster and maintain a relationship with various tertiary institutions and clinical centres in Victoria and Australia, providing lectures and assisting with laboratory sessions as required. You may be required to participate in the weekend and after hours rosters as well as on-call after a suitable training period.

Your skills and experience:

  • Diploma or degree in Applied Science/Diagnostic Radiography as outlined for eligibility for membership of ASMIRT & AHPRA
  • Demonstration of appropriate experience within the Medical Imaging educational field.
  • Current membership of AHPRA
