About MECoEBHP's Maintenance and Engineering Centre of Excellence (MECoE) are the coming together of a dedicated, innovative team focused on identifying, achieving, and maintaining the highest standards in maintenance for BHP globally. About the RoleWe have an exciting opportunity for a Principal Maintenance Strategy Governance to join our team in Adelaide, supporting our Olympic Dam Asset.
The Maintenance Strategy Governance (MSG) team delivers value through development and optimisation of maintenance strategies that balance risk, cost and equipment performance. We work closely with the site-based reliability and maintenance teams to achieve exceptional performance today and tomorrow for the Assets we support.
Reporting to the Olympic Dam Manager Strategy Governance, the Principal Maintenance Strategy Governance will have these key accountabilities:
- Develop Fixed Plant (Processing Plant equipment focus) maintenance strategy to identify and manage the risk associated with failure modes, and feedback the actual failure mode information to optimise the strategies.
- Facilitates defect elimination associated with large and chronic trigger events.
- Provide technical subject matter expertise in strategy management and defect elimination.
- Develop close partnerships with key stakeholders across Maintenance and the broader business to further embed a culture promoting defect elimination and promote good reliability practices to optimise Asset performance.
- Identifies leading industry defect elimination and maintenance strategy practices that can be applied in collaboration with the Asset.
- Identifies safety improvements and conducts field leadership activities.
- Communicates effectively with technical and operational stakeholders to drive improvement project outcomes.
- Identifies and provides guidance to close technical capability gaps, to drive improved asset performance.
As a successful candidate you will possess the following:
- Tertiary or trade qualifications with practical and/or consulting experience in maintenance from the oil and gas, mining and processing industries.
- Demonstrated expertise with Reliability Centred Maintenance (RCM) including FMECA, Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Asset Performance Management (APM), Downtime Accounting Systems (DAS) and CMMS systems (e.g. 1SAP) is essential.
- Experience in data mining and AI techniques would be advantageous.

- You will play a key role in developing our team’s capability via coaching and mentoring.
You will be based in Adelaide, South Australia, in BHP’s award winning office. You will be working on Monday-Friday roster. Flexible work is also offered. This role will also involves some site travel as required.
