As a dynamic medical team, our Emergency Department (ED) is at the forefront of exciting developments, anticipating the completion of the "Canberra Hospital Expansion" – a cutting-edge 114-bed Emergency Department.

· Join a robust medical team comprising over 40 FACEMs and PEMs, 3 Senior Registrars, 30+ registrars, and various junior medical staff.

· Play a pivotal role in one of the busiest EDs in the country, with over 91,000 presentations annually, a significant paediatric caseload, high acuity, and a substantial trauma caseload.

The Fellow is supervised by Specialists and will assist in the supervision of Junior Medical Officers in the Emergency Department, as well as provide direct clinical care for patients. It is our expectation that the Fellow will progress to take part in the on-call consultant roster.

· Operational Accountability:  Collaborate with the ED team to manage day-to-day operations, ensuring adherence to clinical, strategic, and key performance indicators.

· Clinical Excellence:  Play a crucial role in promoting best practices, influencing care delivery, and enhancing clinical outcomes.

· Supervision and Education:  Provide clinical supervision for Registrars and Junior Medical Officers, contributing to the education and training of medical professionals.

· Research and Quality Assurance:  Lead or participate in research and quality assurance activities, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

· Diverse Clinical Practice:  Undertake duties within the approved scope of clinical practice, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, person and family-centred, safe patient care.

· Roster Participation:  Engage in the after-hours and on-call roster, including evening and weekend shifts, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability in an emergency environment.

Position Requirements/Qualifications:

· Be registered or be eligible for registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA); and

· Post graduate medical and academic qualifications and experience relevant to the position including successful completion of the Fellowship Examination of the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine. Note, applicants who have completed the examination and research requirements, and have less than 6 months of training time to complete, or have completed the training time and are awaiting formal awarding of fellowship may also be considered for the position

· Proficient computer literacy skills, as you will be responsible for completing clinical documentation in the DHR and using other CHS IT systems.

Please note prior to commencement successful candidates will be required to:

· Obtain a Compliance Certificate from OMU (Occupational Medicine Unit) relating to assessment, screening & vaccination processes against specified infectious diseases.

· Undergo a pre-employment National Police Check.
