Headquartered in Sydney, with a subsidiary in Virginia (USA), DroneShield (ASX:DRO) is a publicly listed global leader in counterdrone systems, RF sensing, electronic warfare, sensor fusion, Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning and Command-and-Control systems. Its team includes professionals with world-class expertise in engineering and physics, combined with substantial experience in government, defence and intelligence. DroneShield is a fast -growing company with approximately 90 people in the Sydney office.

The DroneShield Tech Team is expanding and is looking to recruit an NPI Engineer to work with the Design Team, Quality Team and Production Team in taking product prototypes through to production. This role will be heavily involved with the build and test process and will develop documentation for DroneShield’s in-house Production Team as well as contract manufacturers. Experience with RF, electronics and Python for test scripts and task automation is preferred.

The position will report primarily to the VP of Design. This role will suit someone with excellent attention to detail and a passion for technology who wants to develop their career in a fast moving ASX listed defence technology company.

Responsibilities

- Develop and maintain assembly documentation in collaboration with the Design and Production Team

- Plan, coordinate, and oversee the design, construction, and maintenance of essential equipment and products

- Develop and maintain production QC documentation

- Identify inefficiencies and automate production tasks using tools such as Python

- Develop IQC and OQC requirements in collaboration with the Quality Team

- Lead the development of assembly and testing processes for prototypes, facilitating their transition to full-scale production.

- Work with suppliers to resolve part quality issues and implement supplier level QC processes

- Train DroneShield production staff and contract manufacturers on correct assembly and testing

- Communicate required design changes to the Design Team

- Design and develop test jigs for DroneShield products to improve assembly efficiency

Qualifications / Experience / Skills

- Experience in electronics assembly and testing of low volume, high complexity equipment

- Experience with RF equipment and testing preferred

- Degree in Engineering, Industrial Design or relevant certification

- Ability to understand complex concepts and processes

- Excellent written and visual communication skills

- Experience writing instructional documentation

- Familiar with Solidworks and Solidworks Composer

- Experience automating production processes through the use of Python

- Strong troubleshooting skills

- Passionate about technology

- Excellent attention to detail

- Ability to work autonomously and as part of a fast-paced team

- Respect and appreciation of process, doing the right thing even if no-one is watching

- Strong ability to multi-task, meet deadlines and handle pressure

- “Can do” attitude and willingness to help in variety of tasks, including occasional tasks unrelated to the core role

- Suitable to hold a security clearance if required
