Overview of the WAFC

The West Australian Football Commission (WAFC) is a not for profit sports association that acts as the caretaker of football throughout the State.

Football is the best resourced sport in WA with a unique model that delivers funding from the elite AFL competition back through all levels of football. Central to the WAFC’s role is the administration and reinvestment of the funds generated by football for the overall development of the game. The WAFC undertakes its role in an independent manner, impartial to individual clubs or competitions, with the focus on the greater good of the game.

The WAFC makes direct cash contributions to clubs and competitions while also employing staff to undertake roles necessary to meet its football objectives such as umpiring pathways, talent academies, tribunals and multicultural and indigenous engagement. The WAFC employs approximately 100 people throughout the State.

With almost 350,000 participants across the State and a rich history dating back to 1885, football is more than a game in WA, it’s part of our cultural fabric. POSITION TITLE: Executive Manager Participation - Programs & Strategy

KEY FOCUS OF THE ORGANISATION: (WAFC Vision): The Game for all West Australians

KEY FOCUS OF THIS POSITION:

The Executive Manager provides high level executive leadership across the West Australian Football Commission overseeing the growth of participation in the game through implementation of strategic participation outcomes as well as driving growth in new and underrepresented markets across Western Australia.

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS:

  • Participation Pathway Strategy
  • Game Development
  • Stakeholder Management

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED TO UNDERTAKE THE POSITION:

(Essential or Desirable)

  • Relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent industry experience (E)
  • A sound understanding of WA Football structure and system (E)
  • An understanding of Club football and participation programs within WA Football (D)
  • An understanding of participation key drivers and growth strategies (E)
  • Ability to lead and interact confidently with football stakeholders (E)
  • Demonstrated ability to present to stakeholders (E)
  • Demonstrative ability to innovate (E)
  • Ability to manage multiple budgets, financial reporting, and acquittal processes (E)
  • Able to work after normal business hours and on weekends (E)
  • Demonstrated ability to succeed in a high-volume work environment (E)
  • A self-motivator, who achieves results autonomously or via teamwork (E)
