Operations Development Engineer

Responsibilities:

  • Independently collaborate with internal and external engineering teams to successfully execute cross-functional projects, ensuring high-quality outcomes (e.g., adherence to timelines, budget constraints, maintainability, low defects, etc.).
  • Collaborate with project managers and external vendors to define project priorities, establish milestones, and drive schedules to meet deadlines.
  • Influence technical documentation content, conduct documentation reviews, and delve into system layouts and solutions.
  • Proficiently present system and/or equipment designs to both customers and other teams.
  • Provide clear and concise project status updates, address project-related inquiries in detail, and regularly generate summaries for the projects under your ownership for the leadership/management team.
  • Cultivate strong working relationships with vendors, engineers, managers, and peers.
  • Engage in design reviews and facilitate collaboration between internal teams and external vendors, covering equipment specifications, material flow, process design, and site layout.
  • Effectively manage budget documents, change order controls, purchase orders, and invoicing.
  • Foster positive working relationships with Fulfilment Centre leadership, operations teams across multiple sites, as well as stakeholders in TECH, Finance, Process Engineers, and other business units.
  • Identify and spearhead process improvement initiatives in support of operations teams.

What we think you will need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or another STEM field.
  • 4+ years of experience in roles such as project engineer, process engineer, project manager, manufacturing engineer, or related occupations (preferable background in Operations Management/Distribution Center operations).
  • Demonstrated technical leadership in industrial engineering projects or programs.
  • Proven experience in designing and/or implementing integrated automation solutions, such as material handling systems, high-speed packaging lines, or manufacturing lines.
  • Proficiency with CAD software (Sketch-up, AutoCAD, REVIT, etc.).
  • Exposure to Six Sigma, Lean manufacturing efforts, transportation/logistics, and/or fulfilment/distribution centres.
