The Information Management unit is responsible for ensuring that the department's information and data resources are managed as a strategic asset: are trusted and accurate; support service delivery; are managed securely; meet compliance requirements; support decision marking; provide predictive insights; and help measure our performance as a department, whilst ensuring that our workforce is empowered to deliver efficient, innovative and sustainable fire and emergency services to our community.

Reporting to the Director, IT Applications and Information Management, you will be responsible for leading and managing the functions of the team in the provision of information management services to ensure our information supports decision making, service delivery activities and underpins effective and informed operational and organisational planning activities. You will be responsible for strategic initiative and projects in the development, review and implementation of information frameworks, data, and records management and information assets, to ensure the quality, reliability, and integrity of the departments information meets governance and compliance with government legislative standards and departmental policies and procedures.

As a department our purpose is to help the community to prevent, prepare for, respond to and recover from the impact of fire and emergency events.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) is the primary provider of fire, rescue and emergency management programs and services throughout Queensland. The department encompasses the Fire and Rescue Service, disaster management services, the Rural Fire Service and the State Emergency Service, and also supports other volunteer groups providing emergency response to Queenslanders.

Purpose of role

The Information Management unit is responsible for ensuring that the department's information and data resources are managed as a strategic asset: are trusted and accurate; support service delivery; are managed securely; meet compliance requirements; support decision marking; provide predictive insights; and help measure our performance as a department, whilst ensuring that our workforce is empowered to deliver efficient, innovative and sustainable fire and emergency services to our community.

Reporting to the Director, IT Applications and Information Management, you will be responsible for leading and managing the functions of the team in the provision of information management services to ensure our information supports decision making, service delivery activities and underpins effective and informed operational and organisational planning activities. You will be responsible for strategic initiative and projects in the development, review and implementation of information frameworks, data, and records management and information assets, to ensure the quality, reliability, and integrity of the departments information meets governance and compliance with government legislative standards and departmental policies and procedures.

* Knowledge and experience in managing teams in developing, administering and delivering compliant information management systems and services in accordance with legislative requirements.

Your key accountabilities

Your part in the ongoing success of our department, in supporting frontline services will see you responsible for a variety of work, including, but not limited to:
* Lead the development and delivery of programs, policies and functions related to digital transformation and implementation of the recommendations toward the achievement of QFES objectives.
* Develop and implement strategies to enable continuous improvement in the performance based on human centred design to enhance user experience.
* Establish and maintain effective networks and partnerships with internal and external agencies and stakeholders to promote positive outcomes for the department.
* Develop and implement appropriate strategies, plans, policies and procedures that support corporate and operational activities in line with legislative requirements.
* Prepare complex and comprehensive correspondence on issues relating to performance management and service delivery in accordance with departmental requirements and governance.
* Provide high level, evidence based advice and timely and well-researched submissions, briefs and notes on key issues relating to the delivery of emergency services, emerging issues and complex policy matters.
* Manage the functions and resources of an assigned area of responsibility to ensure efficiency and effectiveness consistent with strategic organisational and operational policing objectives.
