Your new role:

Reporting to the Network and Integration Manager, the Senior Network Specialist is a technical specialist role focusing on the operational management, continuous improvement and delivery of the Fund's Network and Integration Platforms (including LAN, WAN, SD-WAN, firewalls and security platforms). This role includes platform oversight and governance, technical engineering, solution design and implementation, development of engineering patterns, and operational management, as well as ensuring alignment to the Funds processes, standards, and best practices .

Key duties include but are not limited to:
  • Provide technical oversight and governance for network services.
  • Technical accountability for Network Services, including:
    • design,
    • build and implementation
    • oversee modern high-performance
    • secure networking solutions,
    • ensuring they meet AustralianSuper's requirements.
  • Ensure complete and succinct documentation:- Align to the Funds processes, standards and best practices, including Architectural and Design standards.(Including services delivered by service partners)
  • Responsible for operational management of Network Services in AusSuper's environment, in conjunction with vendor partners and the network operations team. Including management of:
    • configuration management
    • capacity management
    • monitoring and alerting
    • reliability and resilience
    • licensing and software management
    • service lifecycle management.
  • Participation in on-call roster, providing 24x7 operational support (via a scheduled on-call roster) for all components of network services.
  • Act as an escalation point for support teams and an SME during Major Incidences, including support outside of normal business hours on occasions.
  • Ensure all Incidents and Service Requests are handled effectively across each channel, within agreed SLAs, to deliver colleague satisfaction.
  • Nurture and maintain internal relationships across all levels of the Fund and with suppliers and other partners.
  • Collaborative and engaging, advising stakeholders teams, keeping the team inform of all technical progress.

What you'll need:
  • 8+ years' experience in senior technical positions, including prior technical experience working with network and security technologies, ideally in a complex technical environment
  • Excellent and demonstrable technical knowledge and understanding of:
    • Cisco enterprise routing and switching
    • Firewalls (Checkpoint/Fortigate)
    • Fortinet SD-WAN
    • Citrix Netscaler and Gateways
    • Proxy (Zscaler, Squid)
    • Akamai CDN and WAF
    • Microsoft Azure Networking (Azure Routing, NSG, Gateways, Load Balancer, Express Route, VPN)
  • Knowledge and experience in Network Automation using Ansible and Azure Function Apps is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with Python and Terraform is highly desirable.
  • In-depth understanding and working knowledge of ITIL and other relevant ITSM frameworks.
