About the role

Provide senior technological expertise in ICT planning, solutioning, implementation and support across the NIOA Group, to ensure the technology landscape is strategically adopted, globally aligned, operationally effective, and proactively supports the Group achieving its business objectives.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Provide technical expertise across the NIOA Group of companies.
  • Act as mentor and provide technical escalation for ICT staff, constructively sharing knowledge and expertise.
  • Work collaboratively with business stakeholders to identify and assess business requirements, translate them to technical requirements, and identify, evaluate and design solutions, including commercial aspects.
  • Manage ICT projects and provide technical expertise to business projects. 
  • Support business acquisition and integration activities, including discovery, gap/risk assessments, integration planning, migrations etc.
  • Create and maintain documentation, i.e. designs, as-builts, support.
  • Assist the Cyber team to implement and enhance security controls.
  • Lead the technical response to AU/NZ infrastructure and cyber incidents.
  • Assist the NIOA Group CIO with technology planning and budgeting.
  • Monitor and evaluate new technologies and identify potential business benefits.
  • Identify and promote continuous improvement across the ICT landscape.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Experience and Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Management Systems, or similar. 
  • 5+ years in a senior ICT Engineer role or similar, preferably in a medium to large organisation (300+ staff) comprising multiple business units operating in different geographical regions.
  • Strong technical expertise in Microsoft on-premises and cloud environments, as well as broad agnostic expertise in modern server, desktop, network, and as-a-service technologies.
  • Formal contemporary IT certifications, e.g. Microsoft, cloud, networking or similar. Additional security-related certifications would be regarded favourably.

General Requirements 

  • Ability to travel to other NIOA locations, including interstate and international.
  • Current firearms licence, or the ability to attain one. NIOA will organise for successful applicant if required.
  • Security clearance as appropriate, or the ability to attain one. NIOA will organise for successful applicant if required.
  • Unrestricted drivers licence.
