Details: We are seeking an experienced Senior Manager of Facilities to lead and support the Facilities team as we drive a focused and responsive plan to modernise and transform CIT’s campuses to deliver vocational education courses for now and the skills of the future.
Canberra Institute of Technology (CIT) plays a major role in the development of the ACT’s future workforce and in building the skill base of the economy. Its core business is the design and facilitation of high-quality vocational programs, training and education and services to meet the needs of a diverse customer base. The Facilities team is a major stakeholder in supporting CIT in achieving this commitment.

Over the next five years, CIT is undertaking a significant transformation journey including modernising facilities, digitalisation of learning environments and a move into the ACT Government’s circa $200M, 22,500m² Woden campus which will provide a Nation leading contemporary, flexible, smart, and sustainable learning environment for up to 6,500 students each year.
The position is required to undertake duties under limited direction from the Director Facilities, including but not limited to:
- Provide leadership by assisting the Director in strategic planning and the coordination of facilities management across CIT’s five campuses.
- Lead and manage the planning and delivery of building related infrastructure repairs and maintenance, working closely with procurement, contract management and delivery partners to achieve outcomes.
- Manage strategic procurement processes for services/works projects of a complex nature across multiple sites.
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including vendors and suppliers, to ensure contract and procurement processes meet standards.
- Manage, lead, and build the capacity of the Facilities team through a culture of respect and customer service excellence to achieve organisational objectives.
- Supervise maintenance staff, including technical staff, in the delivery of high-quality service including oversight of building services, cleaning and security.
- Work collaboratively with the CIT Work Health and Safety team on the seamless delivery of services, including incident coordination and response and proactive risk management of CIT’s physical environments.
- Operate within agreed financial budget and forecasts and other agreed financial metrics.
- Perform other duties as required, consistent with the classification level of the position.
- This position currently involves direct supervision of three direct reports.
Eligibility/Other Requirements:
Mandatory:
- An associate diploma from an Australian technical and further education (TAFE) institution or equivalent; or relevant experience, training or accreditation to perform the duties relevant to facilities, campus and general estate management.
Notes: A Merit Pool will be established from this selection process and will be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months.
