About Inland Rail
Inland Rail is a once-in-a-generation project that will complete the backbone of Australia's freight rail network. It will enhance supply chains by providing a transit time of 24 hours or less for freight trains between Melbourne and Brisbane. Inland Rail will connect regional Victoria, New South Wales, and Queensland to markets more efficiently, drive substantial cost savings for producers and consumers, and deliver significant economic benefits. Inland Rail is the largest freight rail infrastructure project in Australia and one of the most significant infrastructure projects in the world.
About the opportunity
As the Portfolio Development Manager, you will lead the development, improvement, implementation, and maintenance of a fit for purpose, scalable Program and Project Management framework for the delivery of projects.
Key responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Responsible for sharing of best practice and lessons learned from the delivery Portfolio and Projects across Inland Rail.
- Lead the review and continuous improvement of the Inland Rail Delivery Portfolio and Project Management Framework and systems and implement any changes, with structured training and communication to delivery teams.
- Identify and coordinate the Inland Rail Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) for the development of Project Management Training for the delivery teams.
- Lead the change management activities for Portfolio Management Office systems and processes across the Inland Rail Delivery teams.
- Present and consult with the Delivery Leadership Team on system and framework improvements to get a fit for purpose approach for the efficient delivery of projects.
- Work with the business to develop both organisational and localised change plans, including preparedness for change that enables the successful implementation of Portfolio Management Office Processes.
- Support the review and continuous improvement of the delivery Project Management Framework and implement any changes, with structured training and communication to delivery teams.
- Developing a pragmatic, experienced based learning, and development program for the full project life cycle.
About You
To be successful in this role you will need to be a creative and strategic thinker to navigate challenges and implement effective solutions to generate efficiencies within the portfolio. You will need to have the ability to handle pressure with a positive and constructive attitude and have the ability to build strong healthy relationships with key stakeholders.
To ensure success in this position, applicants will be able to demonstrate:
- Degree in Project Management, Construction Management, Engineering discipline or other disciplines relevant to the delivery of major projects and programs or minimum 5 year's working in PMOs/and or major projects, programs, or portfolios.
- Extensive knowledge and leadership skills in project and program management.
- Skills in leadership, negotiation, influencing, analytical, problem resolution, interpersonal and communication skills.
- Cost, budget, time management and commercial acumen.
- Experience working with systems and process change.
- Skills in managing a team to achieve positive outcomes.
- Ability to engage with multiple stakeholders and drive mutually beneficial outcomes.
- Affiliation or membership with a recognised Project Management or industry body or organisation.
- Previous experience developing project management systems and processes.
- Extensive experience in supporting the delivery of large multi-disciplinary complex rail projects.
- Previous experience working with Inland Rail systems and processes.
