Position Title: Head of Department (HOD) – Science (Secondary)
Location: Minarah College, Green Valley, NSW

Role Overview:
We are seeking a passionate and experienced educator to lead our Secondary Science department. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing strategic leadership and management of the department, ensuring the delivery of high-quality science education, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Secondary Science department, including curriculum development and implementation.
  • Oversee the planning and delivery of engaging and effective science lessons that cater to a diverse range of students.
  • Mentor and support science teachers, promoting professional growth and excellence in teaching practices.
  • Monitor and evaluate student performance and progress, implementing strategies for improvement.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages student engagement and achievement.
  • Collaborate with other departments and school leadership to align science education with the school's overall educational goals.
  • Stay current with developments in science education and integrate innovative practices and technologies.

Key Selection Criteria:

  • A relevant degree in Science and Education with a specialization in a science discipline.
  • Relevant teaching qualifications and NESA accreditation.
  • Extensive teaching experience in secondary science education.
  • Proven leadership experience, preferably within an educational setting.
  • Strong understanding of curriculum design and assessment practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to the values and ethos of Islamic education.
  • Ability to inspire and motivate students and staff.
