The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) is looking to fill the roles of Senior Dynamics Solution Designer and Dynamics Solution Architect within the Technology & Security Division (TSD).

About the role and the area

TSD is the ABS’ provider of innovative technology solutions and services, leading the technology agenda to achieve business outcomes. TSD is implementing the ABS ICT Strategic Plan 2025, which includes the four ICT strategic priorities:

  • Be recognized as a leading in the Australian data technology landscape
  • Develop mature data, digital and delivery skills, and capability.
  • Make it easier to deliver new data solutions and services
  • Continue to invest in our core ICT to enable production of high-quality data and statistics.

A technical specialist role requires extensive understanding, engagement, and delivery experience within the specialist area to work closely with business areas and the Dynamics technical team to create or refactor solutions, within the existing development environments, to support simplified system maintainability. Within ABS there are three business areas with Dynamics applications.

The ABS expects this role to provide Dynamics solution leadership through design and development advice to the product owner and technical team ahead of feature development.

What we are looking for (selection criteria)

To be suitable you should have all the following skills, qualities, and experience: 

Extensive design and implementation of Dynamics solutions supporting end to end architecture.

  • Ability to identify best-fit architectural solutions for Dynamics Customer Service and Sales solutions.
  • Ability to quickly understand existing solutions to refactor and/or extend solutions as required.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide clear communication of complex concepts to a broad range of stakeholders, both written and oral.
  • Demonstrated ability to work productively in a team comprised of technical peers, and business representatives while providing regular support and guidance to the project team on complex coding, issue resolution and execution.

It would be highly desirable for the candidate to have experience with;

  • Azure FunctionApps and Azure Application Insights
  • FetchXML and WebAPI within power automate and portal integrations
  • XRMToolbox
  • OKTA as an identity provider
  • Legacy application to Dynamics conversion
  • Dynamics Test automation options e.g. EasyRepro or Selenium.
