Racing NSW is the statutory authority of thoroughbred racing in NSW responsible for the control, supervision and regulation of thoroughbred racing throughout the State.
The Integrity Department of Racing NSW consists of Stewards, Investigators, Betting Analysts and Veterinary Staff. Staff are located at Head Office in Sydney and at various locations within the regional areas of NSW.
In recent years, the Integrity Department has been bolstered by the establishment of the Investigation and Surveillance Unit that works in conjunction with the Stewards in maintaining the integrity of thoroughbred racing in NSW.
The Integrity Department also has responsibility for the enforcement of the Rules of Racing with regards to retirement of thoroughbred horses in NSW.
Primary purpose of the role
The position of Integrity Operations Manager is a new role, focused on the effective and efficient operation of the Integrity Department.
The Integrity Operations Manager will work alongside the General Manager – Integrity and the Chairman of Stewards with a focus on enabling them and their staff to focus on roles and tasks that fully utilise their skill sets.
Nature of the role
- Reviewing systems and procedures and implementing any improvements arising from review;
- Maintaining internal controls with regards to procurement, rostering, record keeping, travel and adherence to policies and procedures;
- Ensuring the maximum utilisation of resourcing and identifying opportunities for operational improvements, including adoption of new technology;
- Assisting in the co-ordination of investigations, enforcement of integrity codes and policies and preparation of matters for hearing;
- Working with other departments and race clubs to ensure resourcing of ancillary roles such as judges, starters, clerks of scales and barrier attendants etc are available and in place for all race meetings;
Skills and experience
- Knowledge and understanding of integrity, governance principles, corruption and risk management.
- Experience in managing compliance regimes and governance controls.
- Excellent analytical and organisational skills and attention to detail;
- Strong oral and written communications skills.
- Motivated self-starter able to work both autonomously and collaboratively in a dynamic team environment.
