AUSTRAC is the Australian Government’s financial intelligence unit and anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing regulator. With government and industry partners, we use financial intelligence and regulation to:

About the role:
The Manager, Data Governance will be a key member within AUSTRAC’s Data Capabilities Branch. If you thrive on leading a team, you will manage key agency-wide data governance activities and play an integral role in establishing and ensuring adherence to an enterprise data governance framework. This includes the development of data policies, standards and procedures to achieve the required levels of data consistency and quality and protection that meet overall business needs.
The key duties of the position include:
- Leading the implementation of an agency-wide data governance framework, with a focus on whole of data life-cycle, data quality and protecting sensitive data through modifications to organisation behaviour, policies and standards, process, governance metrics, related tools and data architecture.
- Establishing an enterprise data governance implementation roadmap, including strategic priorities for the development of data capabilities and effectively defining roles and responsibilities related to data governance, ensuring clear accountability for stewardship of the agency’s principal information assets.
- Developing and maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure adherence with the data governance framework and associated data management processes.
- Leveraging data expertise to solve data related problems and providing cogent advice and leadership on:
- Data governance oversight functions.
- Strategies to manage identified data related risks through implementation of controls.
- Overseeing and governing the collection of external data into AUSTRAC and coordinating external data sources to eliminate redundancy and streamline the expense related to those services.

Eligibility requirements:
- The successful applicant will be required to undergo a security assessment, maintain an ongoing security clearance and satisfy AUSTRAC’s pre-engagement checks.
- To be eligible for assessment, applicants must be an Australian citizen.
- The successful candidate will have the ongoing/ non-ongoing opportunity to work in a full-time or part-time capacity
