Aboutthe role and team
We have anopportunity for an experienced lawyer at Senior Associate level (orsimilar) to join our growing General Insurance team inSydney.
This rolewill work on professional indemnity matters (particularly broker,architect and engineer claims). You will be responsible forand have carriage of your own files and work closely with oursupportive and industry leading partners.
Our Sydneyteam has approximately 55 people and is part of our NationalGeneral Insurance practice, which has over 200 people.
Our clientsinclude major domestic insurers as well as Lloyds of LondonSyndicates.
Keyresponsibilities
You will beresponsible for:
- advisinginsurers in relation to policy coverage and indemnity disputes,including property, ISR and professional indemnitypolicies;
- handlingboth advisory and litigated files;
- draftingclient advices;
- draftingletters of instruction to experts;
- reviewof documents and preparation of evidence;
- draftingcorrespondence to the Court and third parties;
- conference withwitnesses and prepare witness statements;
- preparing briefs forcounsel;
- draftingCourt documents and attendance at Court; and
- supervising andmentoring junior lawyers and paralegals.
Skills andexperience
We are keento hear from candidates with the following skills andexperience:
- 4+ yearsof post-admission experience, ideally within an insurance lawpractice;
- experience inprofessional indemnity;
- clear,concise legal writing skills;
- theability to work autonomously;
- motivated and eager tobuild a career in the insurance industry; and
- theability and desire to supervise and mentor juniorlawyers.
