You will become a member of a multi-disciplinary team participating in new high volume and cost-efficient optoelectronic transceiver and sensor IC research and development projects.

More specific duties include the following:

- Work in a joint team of analog and digital designers to develop new integrated mixed-signal ASICs and their functional blocks.
- Combine existing analog and mixed-signal blocks to functional groups and arrange them into a top level hierarchy.
- Take responsibility of full schematic and layout of industrial grade ASICs.
- Involvement not only in IC design, but also in IC project management including chip characterization, validation and test development.
- Extend our range of mixed-signal ASIC features especially in the field of optical sensing, integrated detectors and sensor front-ends.
- As first project we target a high performance optical receiver development which should be based on integrated APD and PIN detectors.
- Further typical tasks in our team cover the implementation of IC blocks, digital and analog interfaces and procedures for effective wafer level or module testing (design for testability).
- Side tasks of the main ASIC development tasks could include also the setup of new simulation tools or processes to speed up the simulation of mixed-signal ICs.

Qualifications:
Master Degree in Electrical Engineering, Microelectronics and Photonics, Telecommunications or Embedded Systems with several years of demonstrated experience. Sound expertise in analog circuit design on schematic and layout level. Knowledge of ASIC simulation and verification methods and their implementation during the development cycle. Expertise in optical detectors especially in integrated optical detectors.

Desired proficiency in the following skills:

- Implementation of the full mixed-signal ASIC design cycle, including:

- Definition of architecture and specification of ASICs
- Schematic development including simulation and modeling
- Layout design and verification (DRC, LVS)
- Integration of analog and digital blocks into mixed-signal designs
- Parasitic extraction and performance verification
- Management of the full ASIC design cycle including definition, fabrication, characterization, qualification and testing
- Sound experience in classic analog integrated circuit design and the used techniques and tools for analog and mixed-signal design are required.
- Know-how in advanced simulations techniques (e.g. modeling)
- Knowledge in design for testability is desired.
- Expertise of digital design and layout in is desired.
- Both a self-contained, accurate working style and the willingness to closely cooperate with the ASIC team and with the overlying industrial sensor and transceiver product team.
- Ability to integrate into teams across different functions and locations.
- Broad interest in interdisciplinary work interfacing to sensors, electronics, optics, fiber technology and communication systems.
- English communication skills, both verbal and written. Prepared to learn German and acquire German communication skills.
- An ideal profile would also include:

- Experience in measurement setups and PCB design.
- Sound expertise in integrated optical detectors like SiPMs, APDs and PIN photodiodes and their underlying semiconductor structure
