**Sir Peter Ustinov Gastprofessur der Stadt Wien 2023 an der Universität Wien**
(Halbbeschäftigung; befristet für 5 Monate) öffentlich aus.
Zur Bewerbung eingeladen sind Wissenschafter*innen aus allen Disziplinen (Voraussetzung ist Habilitation oder gleichzuhaltende Qualifikation), die sich nachweislich mit folgendem Themenkreis befasst haben**:
**Autoritarismus. Herausforderung für liberale Gesellschaften und Politik**
Der Schwerpunkt der Gastprofessur liegt auf dem Thema Autoritarismus in Geschichte und Gegenwart. Erfolgreiche Kandidat*innen weisen ein interdisziplinäres Verständnis für diese Problematik auf. Methoden
- und Theoriekonzepte, die Kontinuitäten und Brüche im Autoritarismus des 20. und 21. Jahrhunderts erkennen lassen, sind Voraussetzung. Geeignete Kandidat*innen sollen ein spezielles Augenmerk auf die Aktualität und die neuen Formen des Autoritarismus und die damit entstandenen Herausforderungen für liberale Gesellschaften und Politik legen. Erwartet werden ein entsprechendes Forschungsprofil sowie die Bereitschaft, ein Seminar und eine öffentliche Vorlesung am Institut für Zeitgeschichte anzubieten.
Die Gastprofessur 2023 soll sich insbesondere mit folgenden Themen auseinandersetzen:
- Wie weit sind autoritäre Einstellungen in den europäischen Gesellschaften und darüber hinaus verbreitet? Welche ökonomischen und sozio-psychologischen Rahmenbedingungen lassen sich erkennen?
- Welche Gemeinsamkeiten bzw. Unterschiede lassen sich im Autoritarismus des 20. und 21. Jahrhunderts erkennen? Wo ist Kontinuität, wo sind Brüche zu beobachten?
- Welche geopolitischen Auswirkungen bringt die Anziehungskraft autoritärer Regimes mit sich?
- Welche Rolle spielen soziale Medien und Big Tech Companies bei der Verbreitung autoritärer Tendenzen?
- Wie kann autoritären Verlockungen entgegengewirkt werden und die Widerstandskraft liberaler Gesellschaften gegen autoritäre Bedrohungen gestärkt werden?
Die Bewerber*innen sollen diese Fragen disziplinübergreifend behandeln und im Rahmen von zwei Lehrveranstaltungen, nämlich einer öffentlich zugänglichen Vorlesung sowie eines Seminars an der Universität Wien im **Wintersemester 2023** an Studierende und andere Interessierte vermitteln. Es hat sich im Sinne der Betreuung der Studierenden bewährt, dass der/die Vortragende während des Semesters durchgehend in Wien anwesend ist.
Auf Grund der nicht vorhersehbaren Entwicklung der Corona-Pandemie werden die Bewerber*innen darauf hingewiesen, dass die Lehrveranstaltungen möglicherweise nicht durchgehend als Präsenzveranstaltungen abgehalten werden können, sondern dass eventuell auch E-Learning-Instrumente eingesetzt werden müssen.

- ein konkreter Vorschlag für die Umsetzung des ausgeschriebenen Themas in je zwölf Lehrveranstaltungseinheiten (à 90 Minuten) im Umfang von ca. 4.000 Zeichen
