This position is located in the Investigations Division (ID) of the Office of Internal Oversight Services (OIOS) in the Vienna Regional Office. The Senior Information Systems Assistant (Digital Forensics), will report to the Chief of Section in Vienna.

OIOS is the internal oversight body of the United Nations and assists the Secretary-General in fulfilling his oversight responsibilities in respect of the resources and staff of the Organization through the provision of audit, investigation, and inspection and evaluation services.

ID/OIOS investigates reports of possible violations of rules, regulations, mismanagement, misconduct, waste of resources and abuse of authority.

**Responsibilities**:
The Senior Information Systems Assistant (Digital Forensics) will be responsible for the following duties:

- Provides digital forensic support to assist in conducting forensic investigations in cases of alleged misconduct, malfeasance, mismanagement, fraud, corruption, waste of resources, or violations of the Organization's regulations, rules and administrative instructions, in close cooperation with other investigative units;
- Identifies, collects, recovers, analyzes, and preserves digital evidence in forensically sound manner;
- Performs digital forensic analysis using validated techniques and methods;
- Assists in preparing detailed forensic analysis reports: ensures that results are accurate, reliable, repeatable, and verifiable; presents findings in an objective, clear and concise manner; provides testimony for tribunals as needed;
- Assists with the collection and analysis of data as well as preparation of data presentations and reports for information sharing, responding to queries, knowledge management, planning and decision making;
- Maintains proficiency with industry standard tools and practices;
- Conducts testing and maintenance of forensic equipment and tools;
- Manages storage and backup systems for digital forensic evidence, including transfer of data received from headquarters or other agencies;
- Assists investigators with open-source online research and properly archives relevant evidence;
- Participates in the development of standard operating procedures and guidelines for recovery and handling of electronic evidence, forensic analysis and forensic reports;
- Assists in providing digital forensic awareness training;
- Assists with visualizations and updating information material such as web pages or presentations;
- Provides maintenance and support services for the Division's case management system including training and support. Acts as focal point for technical support related to the case management system;
- Maintains the OIOS inventory of ICT assets and provides assistance with their periodic reconciliation and reporting; and
- Performs other related duties as required.

Education
High school diploma or equivalent is required. Must have passed the United Nations Administrative Support Assessment Test (ASAT) at Headquarters or an equivalent locally administered test at Offices Away.

Work Experience

Experience in providing forensic IT services, including handling evidence, respecting the chain of custody, data back-up, and reporting on forensic data and imaging is required.

Experience in supporting case management systems is desirable.

Experience with ERP systems such as SAP is desirable.

Experience in equipment inventory management is desirable.

Experience of working in an international or multilateral public institution is desirable.

One (1) year or more of experience in data analytics or related area is desirable.

Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is desirable.
