The University of Klagenfurt is pleased to announce the following open position at the **Department of Networked and Embedded Systems**, **Embedded Communication Systems Grou**p** of the Faculty of Technical Sciences, with an expected starting date of **October 16, 2023**:
**University assistant predoctoral (all genders welcome) **in Embedded Communication Systems**

**Level of employment**: 75 % (30 hours/week)

**Minimum salary**: € 34,412 per annum (gross); classification according to collective agreement: B1

**Limited to**: 4 years

**Area of responsibility**:

- Independent research with the aim to submit a dissertation and acquire the PhD
- Teaching in the field of electrical and computer engineering
- Participation in administrative and organizational tasks of the department
- Student mentoring
- Assistance in public relations activities of department and faculty

**Requirements**:

- The completion of a university degree (Master or Diplom-Ingenieur) at a domestic or foreign higher education institution in the field of electrical engineering, information and communications engineering, computer engineering or informatics. This requirement must be fulfilled two weeks before the starting date at the latest; hence, the last possible deadline for meeting this requirement is **October 1, 2023**:

- Fluent in written and spoken English
- Experience in three or more of the following fields: communications theory, signals and systems theory, control theory, signal/data processing, machine learning, wireless communications, power line communications, automation and robotics, smart grids
- A solid foundation in both engineering mathematics and statistics
- Programming skills, three or more among: C/C++, Python, MATLAB, LabVIEW, GNU radio, VHDL.

**Desired skills**:

- Knowledge of German
- Good social, team work and communication competences
- First research contributions (in the thesis, with participation in research projects and/or publications)
- Relevant international experience

The employment contract is concluded for the position as university assistant (predoctoral) and stipulates a starting salary of € 2,458 gross per month (14 times a year; previous experience deemed relevant to the job can be recognised).
