- The internship is UNPAID and interns work five days per week (full time - 40 hours). The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) has the mission to contribute to global peace and security, human rights, and development by making the world safer from drugs, crime, corruption and terrorism. Illicit trafficking and related organized crime threaten security and public health in affected communities as well as undermine governance and the rule of law. The transnational nature of illicit trafficking as well as the increasing multi-crime portfolio of organized crime groups have exacerbated security, legal and health challenges facing participating countries, calling for an equally horizontal approach to cooperation at a national, regional, and inter-regional level. The UNODC Global Programme on Criminal Network Disruption (GPCD) forms part of the UNODC Border Management Branch (BMB) and aims to promote intelligence-led and cooperative criminal justice responses across regions that inform targeted law enforcement and border control efforts and provide effective follow-up, going beyond seizures with the aim to disrupting criminal networks. With a focus on operational and case-based support, GPCD develops and implements capacities and strategies that allow Member States to understand, plan, detect, investigate, prosecute, defund and ultimately disrupt transnational organized crime groups. To achieve the objectives and support the visibility of the programme, UNODC requires the support of an intern. The intern shall undertake the following duties which may include, but are not limited to: - Assist the project team in the development of work plans;
- Assist the team in desk work, with fact-checking, editing and proof-reading;
- Contribute to the development of communications materials and reports regarding country-specific and regional activities as required;
- Undertake research work, using electronic sources, in the field of transnational organized crime with particular emphasis on cocaine trafficking as well as other relevant topics as required;
- Provide administrative and logístical support for activities such as: 1) classroom training sessions at participating member state locations; 2) assessment and mentoring missions; and 3) meetings and conferences;
- Prepare training material for technical assistance activities such as training workshops and meetings;
- Assist in the drafting of concept notes and background documents taking stock of existing knowledge on a specific issue in order to suggest operational ways forwards for the Programme;
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Languages
- English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the internship. Knowledge of an additional official UN language is an advantage. Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish are the official languages of the United Nations Secretariat.
