This internship is located in the Chinese Translation and Text Processing Section (CTTS) of the Conference Management Service (CMS), Division for management (DM), United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV), and is for a minimum of two months between July and October 2023.

The internship is UNPAID and full-time. Interns work five days per week (40 hours) under the supervision of the Chief of Section and the Terminology Focal Point.

**Responsibilities**:
The Intern will be responsible for the following duties:
translation work with the guidance of its experienced translators and revisers;
- Learn and develop skills and general techniques, through participation and practice in document

translation assignments, in typical UN document translation with emphasis on those that are

specific to VBOs;
- Practice and upgrade general capabilities and specific skills in the use of various translation

apps terminology database, especially eLuna with all its important features and functionalities.
- Help perform any other activities/tasks of CTTS as instructed by the Chief of Section.

To qualify for an internship with the United Nations Internship Programme, the following conditions must be met:

- Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s level or equivalent). (OFFICIAL WRITTEN PROOF FROM THE UNIVERSITY SUPPORTING ONE OF THE ABOVE POSSIBILITIES MUST BE ATTACHED TO THE INSPIRA APPLICATION); for this particular internship position, studying for a Master's degree in Translation in a Chinese language university or translation school will be an advantage.
- Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter; and
- Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.
