**Institute for Public Management and Governance**
Part-time, 30 hours/week
Starting February 01, 2025, and ending after 3 years
- Are you interested in conducting cutting-edge interdisciplinary research that examines the impact of disruptive technologies on democracy and good governance? The Institute of Public Management and Governance, part of the Department of Management at the WU Vienna University of Economics and Business, is seeking a bright, highly motivated early-career postdoctoral researcher to contribute to the Horizon Europe research project IDEAL- Inclusive Democratic Engagement and Language Technologies in Europe (Call: HORIZON-CL2-2024-DEMOCRACY-01) aimed at investigating how automated language technologies and social innovation approaches can enhance deliberative processes and outcomes amongst minority groups in Europe.

What to expect
- You will actively contribute to the research agenda, as well as the predefined work-packages of the Horizon project, focusing on deliberative democracy, multilingualism and multicultural identity, and the role of advanced language technologies and social innovation approaches in shaping deliberative governance in Europe.
- As part of an interdisciplinary team, you will take the lead in scientific studies resulting in impactful publications in order to build and strengthen your own publication record in the fields of public administration, governance studies, public policy and/or the social sciences in general. In addition, as an active co-author, you will contribute to, and provide feedback on, studies led by other project collaborators.
- You will support the administrative activities related to the Horizon project, such as co-organizing workshops with practitioners and other scholars, dissemination of results to practitioners and other scholars, and assist in reporting project progress.
- You will present project research results at national and international conferences, and actively contribute to project dissemination and outreach targets.
- You are actively involved in the team and continuously take advantage of regular opportunities to share knowledge with other scientists at the institute and the department.
- This position is fully focused on research; teaching is optional and may be arranged at a later date.

What you have to offer
- A PhD degree (or close to completion) in the field of public administration, political science, administrative sciences, public policy, sociology or a related discipline.
- An outstanding academic record.
- Proven ability to conduct scientific research, and experience in presenting results at international conferences.
- An excellent command of written and spoken English and German.
- Knowledge of quantitative and qualitative research methods.
- Experience in conducting field observation, field experiments or in experimental methods is an advantage.
- Publications in peer-reviewed journals are an advantage.
- During the project you are based in Vienna or surroundings, and are working at our campus on a daily basis (or for example conducting in-person interviews with local partners in Vienna). Remote working is not possible for this position.

The minimum monthly gross salary amounts to €3,564.23 (14 times per year). This salary may be adjusted based on equivalent prior work experience. In addition, we offer a wide range of attractive social benefits.
