**About the Position** Reporting to the Team Leader Wellbeing & Advocacy within the broader Community Strengthening & Economic Development team, the Primary Prevention Officer will foster and develop key partnerships and networks to deliver preventative measures for community safety and identify and respond to key social issues. **Skills and Experience** - In-depth understanding of current local, regional and state principal and best practice approaches of health promotion, social determinants of health and primary prevention - A strong understanding and experience in preventing family violence, all forms of violence against women and gender-based violence, harm from harmful industries (i.e. alcohol, tobacco) and community safety - Relevant experience particularly in relation to health promotion, community development, project management, working within a prevention model of practice - Understanding of community capacity building, and skills in implementing community development strategies to meet required needs - Highly developed report writing skills including research, analysis and evaluation - An ability to work effectively and build partnerships with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders - Ability to manage financial budgets - Ability to think strategically, conceptually and innovatively to develop and deliver against key primary prevention and social policy areas **Requirements** - Tertiary qualification in health promotion, public health, health sciences, community development. Lesser formal qualifications and substantial relevant experience - The position requires professional knowledge and demonstrated experience in health promotion, Community development and engagement, project management, policy development and community engagement - Satisfactory National Police Check - Other pre-employment checks may be required depending on the role requirements **Benefits** As a City of Monash employee, your personal and professional development is a key focus for us.
