About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Scientist to join our Center for Low-Emission Transport at the Austrian Institute of Technology. As a key member of our team, you will contribute to the development of our research and business strategy in the field of battery technology.

Key Responsibilities
  • Identify relevant developments in the field of battery technology and design and acquire corresponding research and client projects
  • Develop concepts, specifications, and procedures for the development of new materials for energy storage applications, with a focus on solid-state batteries
  • Lead national and international research and client projects, as well as a team of researchers
  • Shape the group's research strategy and development roadmap
  • Define and write research proposals
  • Write impactful scientific publications and motivate and support other scientists in doing so
  • Work together with a team of multidisciplinary scientists and research engineers, providing continuous qualification and support
  • Build a network with industrial and academic partners
  • Supervise international interns, master, and PhD students
Requirements
  • PhD degree in chemistry, physics, or materials science
  • At least 5 years of experience in electrochemical characterization and materials development for energy storage
  • Experience in lithium-ion technologies and solid-state battery systems
  • Experience in publishing in high-ranking journals and renowned conferences
  • Experience in leading complex research projects and leading teams of experts
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Very good English language skills (written and spoken at a technical level), German desirable but not necessary
