We are seeking a highly skilled Microbiome Scientist to join our team at the Austrian Institute of Technology (AIT). As a leading research and technology organization, we are dedicated to making significant contributions to solving the major challenges of our time, including climate change and digitization.
Key Responsibilities- Explore soil, plant, and food microbiomes and their functions for novel applications.
- Translate fundamental knowledge into innovative solutions to improve the food system and human health/wellbeing.
- Contribute to the development of our knowledge and services portfolio in the area of human gut microbiome.
- Participate in national and international research projects, as well as customer-oriented research.
- Represent AIT in research networks and cooperate with international research institutions.
- Acquire research projects, develop technical and scientific concepts, and contribute to the ongoing development of our research and business strategy.
- Ph.D. in microbiology, molecular biology, food sciences, or equivalent.
- Post Doc experience mandatory.
- Expertise in microbiome research, particularly on human (gut) microbiomes.
- Experience with food and/or food production microbiomes advantageous.
- Good network in the international microbiome research field, particularly human microbiome.
- Enthusiasm for creative solutions and innovations, application-oriented thinking.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills in English; German knowledge is advantageous but not required.
- The minimum gross annual salary on a full-time basis (38.5 h/week) according to the collective agreement is EUR 57,890.--
- Actual salary will be determined individually, based on qualifications and experience.
