Key Responsibilities- Radiation Safety Compliance: Ensure adherence to the Code of Conduct on the Safety and Security of Radioactive Sources, along with its Supplementary Guidance.
- Licensing and Regulatory Inspections: Oversee the authorization and inspection processes for the security of radioactive materials and associated facilities, contributing to the drafting and review of relevant regulations.
- International Nuclear Security Standards: Maintain in-depth knowledge of global guidelines related to the security of radioactive materials.
- Program Management and Analysis: Analyze technical data and assess the needs of member states in radiation safety and security, designing and implementing technical assistance projects accordingly.
The ideal candidate will possess:
- An advanced university degree in a relevant field such as Science, Physics, Chemistry, or Engineering, focusing on nuclear science or technology.
- A first-level university degree in a related field, complemented by two additional years of relevant experience, may be considered.
- A minimum of seven years of pertinent experience in implementing security measures related to the regulatory framework for radioactive materials, with at least five years within a national regulatory authority.
- Experience with the IAEA or similar international organizations in delivering technical assistance to developing nations is advantageous.
- Proficiency in English, with knowledge of additional IAEA official languages (especially French and/or Spanish) considered an asset.
The IAEA offers a competitive remuneration package, including:
- A tax-free annual net base salary starting at US $77,326.
- A variable post adjustment currently amounting to US $36,885.
- Additional benefits such as dependency allowances, rental subsidies, education grants, and relocation expenses.
- Generous leave policies, including six weeks of annual leave and home leave travel.
- A comprehensive pension plan and health insurance coverage.
