Join Our Team as a Senior Director/Executive Director

AC²T research GmbH, the Austrian Excellence Centre for Tribology, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Director/Executive Director to lead our team of 120 experts in the field of Tribology.

We are a leading R&D service provider in the field of Tribology, with a turnover of around €14 million per year and a comprehensive R&D infrastructure. Our team is financed by contracts from industry and public R&D project funding.

About the Role

We are looking for a Senior Director/Executive Director who will support our Managing Director in management tasks and gradually take over operational management within about 2 years. The ideal candidate will have a technical or scientific academic degree related to Tribology, preferably supplemented by business education, and a qualification according to NQF VII / EQF 7 or higher.

The successful candidate will have several years of management responsibility in an R&D-oriented sector and preferably in-depth knowledge of contract drafting. They will also have an entrepreneurial mindset and several years of experience in R&D management, strong customer affinity, and excellent skills in the acquisition of R&D contracts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage business activities with foresight and a strong technical understanding
  • Represent the Centre externally and at eye level with R&D partners, funding institutions, stakeholders, and political decision-makers
  • Constantly maintain and expand contacts with clients from industry
  • Acquire R&D contracts, particularly outside of funding programmes
  • Continuously develop personnel and equipment capacities
  • Lead the Centre into the future, both operationally and strategically
What We Offer

We offer a permanent contract with a minimum salary of €110,000 per year (gross) as a Power of Attorney and €140,000 per year (gross) as a General Manager. Performance bonus and company car (incl. private use) are envisaged.

We are looking for a start within 9 months and the location is Wiener Neustadt, Austria.
