Position Overview

The IAEA is seeking a highly skilled professional to engage in the field of Nuclear Fuel Cycle and Facility Safeguards. The ideal candidate will possess a robust understanding of the nuclear fuel cycle, encompassing various reactor types, enrichment facilities, and reprocessing plants.

Qualifications and Experience
  • Educational Background: A Bachelor's Degree in physics, applied physics, or nuclear/electrical engineering is required.
  • Professional Experience: A minimum of five years in the deployment, production, or utilization of nuclear instrumentation, particularly in unattended applications. Experience with safeguards instrumentation is advantageous.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in the detailed design, development, or implementation of nuclear detectors and associated data acquisition systems for Non-Destructive Analysis (NDA), including high- and low-resolution gamma spectroscopy systems and neutron counters.
  • Software Proficiency: Familiarity with NDA software tools such as FRAM, MGA, INCC, and MIC is a plus.
  • Modeling Experience: Experience in modeling complex gamma and neutron detector systems, particularly using MCNP, is beneficial.
  • Language Skills: Excellent command of English, with knowledge of additional IAEA official languages (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, and Spanish) considered an asset.
Compensation and Benefits

The IAEA offers a competitive remuneration package, which includes a tax-free annual net base salary starting at US $64,121 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance), along with a variable post adjustment currently amounting to US $37,126. Additional benefits include:
