Quantum Engineer for Next-generation Technology

We are seeking a Senior Research Engineer to develop ion-trap chips (ITCs) at Photonics Austria. As part of our team, you will contribute to realizing the building blocks of next-generation quantum technology.
Your Responsibilities:- You will lead the development of ITCs.
- You will coordinate ITC fabrication across different research units and cleanroom facilities.
- You will execute small-scale fabrication and prototypes for ITC devices in cleanroom facilities using 200 mm wafer-level technology.
- You will coordinate testing of developed ITC devices.
- You will co-develop the design, fabrication, and technological advancement of ion trap chips.
- You will perform quality control and documentation for statistical process control.
- You will communicate and report research findings to both scientific and non-scientific audiences.
- You will communicate and align with industry and academic partners.
- You will manage projects.
- You will acquire R&D projects.
- PhD in physics, quantum technology, electronics engineering, or similar.
- 3+ years of experience in semiconductor manufacturing and trapped-ion quantum technology.
- Experience in an industrial environment is an asset.
- Proficiency in English. German or willingness to learn is an asset.
- Motivated team player with good communication skills.
- Willingness to relocate to Austria/Villach.
- Willingness to travel.
