We are seeking an experienced and visionary HPC Cluster Manager to join our team at EO Austria GmbH. As a key member of our Scientific Computing unit, you will have the opportunity to shape the future of high-performance computing in Austria.

The Role

You will be responsible for leading our HPC cluster, driving its continued growth and innovation. Your strategic vision will shape the development of our facility, ensuring it remains at the forefront of high-performance computing in Austria. You will work closely with research groups, understanding their specific needs and developing tailored solutions to address scientific challenges.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Leadership and Management: Oversee and lead the HPC cluster, ensuring efficient operations and continuous development.
  • Strategic Development: Devise and implement strategic plans to enhance the cluster's capabilities and expand its services in alignment with emerging research needs.
  • Collaboration with Research Groups: Work closely with group leaders and scientists to understand their specific needs and offer expert guidance.
  • Resource Allocation: Manage the allocation of computing resources, prioritizing based on project urgency and research needs.
  • Technology Trends: Stay updated and remain curious about new trends and technologies in HPC and IT to continuously expand the cluster's expertise.
Requirements:
  • Educational Background: Completed degree (preferably a PhD) in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Parallel Computing Expertise: Strong background in parallel computing, with experience in both CPU and GPU environments.
  • Leadership Experience: Proven experience in leading and managing a high-performance or scientific computing unit.
  • Resilience and Diplomacy: Strong interpersonal skills with a balanced and diplomatic approach.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts clearly and effectively.
