We are seeking an experienced Medical Director to lead our Rare Diseases department in Austria and Switzerland. This is a key role within Chiesi, requiring strong leadership skills and the ability to drive business growth.

In this role, you will be responsible for the leadership of the medical team, including medical scientific liaisons (MSLs) in Austria and medical scientific relations managers (MSRs) in Switzerland.

You will act as a key interface between medical, marketing, sales, market access, and other departments, with a focus on strengthening cross-functional collaboration.

Salary and Benefits

The gross annual base salary for this position is approximately €80,000, with potential overpayment depending on qualifications and experience.

Job Description
  • Lead the development and advancement of the Rare Diseases department in Austria and Switzerland.
  • Act as a sparring partner and coach for team members, with responsibility for their professional development in collaboration with HR.
  • Take ownership of budget responsibilities for the designated area.
  • Support the team on strategic, scientific, and stakeholder management topics as content-focused sparring partner.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Degree in medicine (human or veterinary) or natural sciences.
  • Several years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Ability to analyse and interpret clinical data.
  • Experience in dealing with customers and disseminating scientific/medical information (personally, written and/or remote).
  • Deep understanding of Chiesi's range of products.
  • Knowledge of relevant laws, directives, regulations, guidelines, norms, and standards, including SOPs.
  • Knowledge of the European code of conduct (Efpia) and the Austrian Pharmig Codex.
  • Knowledge of the Swiss Pharmakodex.
  • Fundamental knowledge of pharmaceutical industry aspects like approval procedures, market access, etc.
  • Experience in organising and participating actively in scientific meetings like advisory boards, round tables, or symposia.
  • Written and oral command of English and German.
