We are seeking a Senior Research Engineer to lead the development of ion-trap chips (ITCs) at Photonics Austria. As part of our highly motivated international team, you will be committed to realizing the building blocks of next-generation quantum technology.
Key Responsibilities:- Coordinate ITC development and fabrication across different research units and cleanroom facilities.
- Execute small-scale fabrication and prototypes for ITC devices in cleanroom facilities utilizing 200 mm wafer-level technology.
- Coordinate testing of developed ITC devices.
- Co-develop the design, fabrication, and technological advancement of ion trap chips.
- Perform quality control and documentation for statistical process control.
- Communicate and report research findings to both scientific and non-scientific audiences.
- Communicate and align with industry and academic partners.
- Project management.
- R&D project acquisition.
- PhD in physics, quantum technology, electronics engineering, or similar.
- 3+ years of experience in semiconductor manufacturing and trapped-ion quantum technology.
- Experience in an industrial environment is an asset.
- Proficiency in English. German or willingness to learn is an asset.
- Motivated team player with good communication skills.
- Willingness to relocate to Austria/Villach.
- Willingness to travel.
