We are seeking a Senior Research Engineer to lead the development of ion-trap chips (ITCs) at Photonics Austria. As part of our highly motivated international team, you will be committed to realizing the building blocks of next-generation quantum technology.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate ITC development and fabrication across different research units and cleanroom facilities.
  • Execute small-scale fabrication and prototypes for ITC devices in cleanroom facilities utilizing 200 mm wafer-level technology.
  • Coordinate testing of developed ITC devices.
  • Co-develop the design, fabrication, and technological advancement of ion trap chips.
  • Perform quality control and documentation for statistical process control.
  • Communicate and report research findings to both scientific and non-scientific audiences.
  • Communicate and align with industry and academic partners.
  • Project management.
  • R&D project acquisition.
About You:
  • PhD in physics, quantum technology, electronics engineering, or similar.
  • 3+ years of experience in semiconductor manufacturing and trapped-ion quantum technology.
  • Experience in an industrial environment is an asset.
  • Proficiency in English. German or willingness to learn is an asset.
  • Motivated team player with good communication skills.
  • Willingness to relocate to Austria/Villach.
  • Willingness to travel.
