Position Overview

The IAEA is seeking a dedicated professional to serve as a Nuclear Security Officer. This role is crucial in ensuring the safety and security of radioactive materials and associated facilities. The ideal candidate will possess a comprehensive understanding of international guidelines and a proven track record in nuclear security.

Key Responsibilities
  • Expertise in Safety Protocols: Demonstrate extensive knowledge of the Code of Conduct on the Safety and Security of Radioactive Sources and its Supplementary Guidance, with practical experience in assisting Member States in its implementation.
  • Publication and Training Development: Capable of creating and reviewing technical publications and training materials that enhance understanding and compliance with nuclear security standards.
  • Partnership and Collaboration: Build and maintain strategic partnerships with key stakeholders, fostering collaboration opportunities that support nuclear safety initiatives.
  • Project Management: Design and implement programs that assist States in adhering to international safety and security guidelines.
Qualifications and Experience

The successful candidate will hold an advanced degree in a relevant field such as Science, Physics, Chemistry, or Engineering. Alternatively, a first-level university degree with a minimum of two additional years of qualifying work experience may be considered.

Essential qualifications include:

  • A minimum of seven years of relevant experience in nuclear security, with at least five years focused explicitly on the security of radioactive materials.
  • Experience collaborating with national and international organizations, particularly the IAEA, to support the implementation of safety provisions.
  • Proven experience in developing technical publications and training materials in the nuclear security domain.
  • Familiarity with the authorization and inspection processes for radioactive material security.
Language Proficiency

Excellent command of English is required, and knowledge of additional IAEA official languages (Arabic, Chinese, Farsi, French, Korean, Russian, and Spanish) is advantageous.

Compensation and Benefits

The IAEA offers a competitive remuneration package, including a tax-free annual net base salary starting at US $77,326, along with a variable post adjustment currently amounting to US $39,668. Additional benefits include:
