Senior Communications Manager

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing strategic advice and support to senior leadership on media engagement, ensuring timely and effective dissemination of messages across various platforms;
  • Overseeing the development and skill enhancement of the Communications and Media Relations team, ensuring the implementation of innovative communication strategies that align with industry best practices and accountability standards;
  • Creating and executing comprehensive communication policies that promote organizational objectives and enhance public awareness, while ensuring that messaging is politically sensitive and accessible to diverse stakeholders;
  • Monitoring political trends within the organization’s operational region and fostering relationships with key media personnel and partners to ensure alignment of messaging with organizational priorities;
  • Managing the organization’s digital presence, including the official website and social media channels, ensuring content quality, accuracy, and audience engagement;
  • Supervising the production of public statements and communication materials, ensuring consistency and clarity in messaging across all organizational outputs;
  • Collaborating closely with field operations to ensure effective communication strategies are in place, providing necessary guidance and training;
  • Supporting various departments in their media outreach efforts related to events and public engagements;
  • Executing additional relevant tasks as assigned.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Advanced university degree in fields such as communication, journalism, international relations, or a related discipline. A bachelor's degree combined with significant relevant experience may be considered;
  • At least ten years of progressively responsible experience in communication and media relations, with a minimum of four years in a managerial role, preferably within a large governmental or international organization;
  • Thorough understanding of the organization and its operational areas, with strong political acumen and diplomatic skills;
  • Proven leadership abilities, with a track record of motivating and managing teams effectively;
  • High proficiency in contemporary communication methods and tools, with demonstrated experience in developing and executing digital communication strategies;
  • Fluency in English, with exceptional writing and presentation capabilities; knowledge of another official language is advantageous;
  • Commitment to gender sensitivity and the ability to incorporate a gender perspective into all activities;
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a diverse team environment, respecting various cultural and political viewpoints;
  • Proficient in computer applications, particularly Microsoft Office.
