Job Responsibilities:

The selected candidate will be responsible for conducting a comprehensive literature review on hybrid computational aeroacoustics (CAA) approaches and current methods. They will utilize Partially Averaged Navier-Stokes (PANS) equations to compute acoustic source terms using the FIRE M software. The candidate will analyze and compare the results of Large Eddy Simulation (LES) and PANS simulations to assess the differences in the provided source terms. Additionally, they will apply AVL FIRE M in combination with openCFS as the second software tool to simulate the incompressible turbulent flow field and acoustic wave propagation. The candidate will also analyze and compare the obtained flow and acoustic results with relevant literature for validation purposes.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Ongoing master's studies in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
  • Programming skills in Python, C, and Fortran for data analysis and post-processing tasks
  • Experience with 3D CFD simulation and meshing is beneficial
  • Background knowledge in aerodynamics and acoustics is recommended but not required
  • Problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
  • Proficient language skills in English or German
