Thesis - PEM Electrolyser 3D-SimulationYour ResponsibilitiesWith the growing demand for hydrogen in the renewable energy sector, the technology surrounding Polymer Electrolyte Membrane fuel electrolyzers is increasingly significant. This project aims to leverage advanced machine learning techniques on a parameterized computational fluid dynamics (CFD) modeling and simulation framework to enhance performance through optimization of shape and material parameters. By utilizing existing CFD tools and features, as well as automation from various industrial applications, a parameterized cell segment and subsequently a complete cell model will be developed to support both established and novel AI methodologies.
- Automating CFD meshing for segment and complete cell models
- Streamlining simulation setup and post-processing
- Evaluating performance and electrochemical characteristics using AVL Fire-M
- Compiling parameter sets to inform AI optimization tools
- Documenting findings and presenting to team members
- A keen interest in PEM technology for fuel cell and electrolyzer operations.
- A passion for electrochemical analysis through numerical modeling and simulation.
- Basic understanding of fluid dynamics, chemistry, and 3D CFD simulation methods is advantageous.
