Job Overview

We are currently seeking a highly skilled Vaccine Development Expert to join our Pre-Clinical Vaccine Development Department in Vienna. You will play a critical role in supporting technical activities in the vaccine R&D process, focusing on the discovery, selection, and characterization of preclinical vaccine candidates. You will apply current science and technology and collaborate with other functions and experts as needed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process Optimization: Transform complex processes into simpler, more effective solutions to enhance efficiency and productivity.
  • Data Analysis: Generate and interpret scientific data with high accuracy and judgment to inform decision-making.
  • Team Collaboration: Support data review to ensure scientific quality and hypothesis testing, while training and mentoring team members in scientific techniques.
  • Operational Management: Define and establish new operational procedures and ensure compliance with Level 2 biosafety standards.
  • Communication: Communicate effectively within the organization, prepare internal scientific documents, and present results internally.
  • Presentation and Publication: Participate in scientific discussions, publications, and presentations to share knowledge and expertise.
  • Project Impact: Recognize the impact of scientific topics on projects and create awareness among stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Qualifications: Postgraduate qualification (PhD, research-based) is essential.
  • Experience: At least 2 years of work experience in virology or bacteriology environment.
  • Track Record: Scientific track record evidenced by respective achievements, including publications.
  • Disease Expertise: Prior experience with disease targets of Valneva's key pipeline programs (Chikungunya, Borrelia, and Zika).
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Ability to work across a global organization.
  • Project Management: Familiarity with project management processes.
  • Documentation and Communication: Proficient in documentation, manuscript preparation, reports, and presentations.
  • Linguistic Skills: Fluency in English, both spoken and written.

The minimum salary for this position is €100,000 gross per year based on full-time employment. However, our salaries are market-oriented and in line with your qualifications and experience.
