Thesis Opportunity in EV Battery Testing with Machine Learning

We are seeking a highly motivated master's student to work on a thesis project that focuses on optimizing battery testing for electric vehicles (EVs) using machine learning in lab management. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on a cutting-edge project that has a significant impact on the future of mobility.
About the Project
The planning process for battery testing facilities involves a multitude of tasks, including workload organization, parameter setup, and test procedure mapping. However, this process is complex and surpasses human capabilities due to its complexity. Classic optimization methods reach their limits due to plant uncertainties and unpredictable behavior of the unit under test. In this project, new ML-based algorithms will be implemented, analyzed, and compared to existing methods in managing test labs.
Your Responsibilities
As a thesis student, you will be responsible for analyzing and adapting data models for battery testing, implementing a simple test environment to simulate a battery test lab, analyzing the state of the art in ML applicable to plant management, and selecting appropriate approaches and implementing prototypes for tasks in the battery testing facility. You will also design an agent prototype that interacts with the environment and design dashboard prototypes to properly communicate necessary changes in resource allocation.
Your Profile
We are looking for a master's student with ongoing studies in Computer Science, Telematics, or Physics. You should have good programming skills in Python and knowledge of machine learning algorithms, data structures, and translations. Knowledge of C# is appreciated. Good knowledge of German and English is also required. Presence from time to time at our headquarter in Graz is necessary.
