We are looking for pilots who are ready to take on the challenge of serving in a dynamic and rewarding environment.
About the role
This is a full-time Line Pilot position based in Port Hedland, Western Australia with the Royal Flying Doctor Service WO.
As a Line Pilot, you will play a vital role in providing critical medical and emergency services to regional and remote communities across Western Australia.
What we're looking for
Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL) Significant experience (minimum 1500 hours) flying fixed-wing aircraft in a variety of weather conditions Fixed-wing single pilot experience (Turboprop) Aeromedical experience will be highly advantageous Holds a SEA Instrument Rating with at least 100 hours of night flying, 100 hours of Instrument Flight Time (IFR) and at least two IPCs Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends and public holidays Excellent flying skills and a demonstrated commitment to aviation safety Effective communication, teamwork skills and ability to work in small teams Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities A passion for providing essential healthcare services to regional and remote communities What you'll be doing
Operating and flying aircraft in a range of conditions and environments Transporting patients, medical staff and equipment to and from regional and remote locations Performing pre-flight checks and maintaining aircraft airworthiness Navigating aircraft and communicating with air traffic control and ground support teams Adhering to all safety procedures and regulations Providing high-quality customer service to patients and medical personnel About Us
The mission of the Royal Flying Doctor Service (Western Operations) is to provide excellence in aeromedical and primary health care across Western Australia.
Every member of the RFDS WO team contributes to that mission and living our values of showing respect, demonstrating fairness, utilising diversity and being safe.
Every year, the RFDS WO provides urgent retrieval for about 10,000 patients in regional WA.
A further 10,000 appointments are provided in primary healthcare clinics in remote communities, including GP, nurse, dental and mental health care.
In 2024, the RFDS is launching a new five-year strategy 'Above and Beyond', which will mark an important new chapter in the long Flying Doctor history.
The strategy will include a focus on expanding remote health clinics in some of WA's most vulnerable communities, expanding our profit-for-purpose services, strengthening our workforce, harnessing technology and addressing our environmental sustainability.
