Senior Legal Counsel - 15 month parental leave contract
Perth Airport, "The Gateway to Western Australia", plays a significant role in the economic, social and cultural activities of WA. They are also a major participant in the Perth property market with the estate comprising 2,105 hectares of land located within proximity to Perth and connected through major road infrastructure. With a focus on development and transformation, Perth Airport has an exciting growth strategy and a committed $5bn construction program commencing in 2024. The size, scale, and scope of this development makes this the largest private property development in WA and a "once in a generation" experience.
Reporting to the Deputy General Counsel, this role is a key member of the collaborative legal team responsible for providing a full suite of legal services to the business and ensuring compliance with Australian laws and regulations. You will be responsible for providing full lifecycle front end transactional legal support across all areas of the business as well as drafting and negotiating a diverse range of upstream and downstream contracts. Furthermore, you may assist the Deputy General Counsel in relation to disputes that are the subject of formal proceedings and be an advisor to the business in the management of disputes. You will also partner with the business to identify key transactional, project, and operational risks and propose risk mitigation strategies to assist the business in the management of these risks.
Key requirements for success in this role include:
High calibre delivery and personal style with a focus on building respectful, advisory, and outcome-focused relationships across the business.
Ability to navigate complex situations and structures with high emotional intelligence that will enable you to choose appropriate strategies and tactics.
Experience in drafting and negotiating commercial contracts, professional services agreements, joint venture agreements, memorandums of understanding, and procurement contracts.
Tertiary qualifications in Law and admission as a solicitor with an unrestricted practising certificate.
Practicing lawyer with 6+ years' experience gained in-house or practice.
Experience working in construction and engineering is desirable however not essential.
