As a Cloud Systems Engineer, you'll play a key role in our Technical Services team, supporting internal and external stakeholders.
This is a varied role that would suit someone who has experience with Windows or Linux system administration and AWS or Azure services/administration.
In this role you'll be supporting our cloud hosted customers, providing technical support escalations for on-premise customers and providing internal IT support.
The position leverages in-depth knowledge of AWS technologies, software deployment, and IT security, contributing to the efficient operation of both customer and internal systems within a collaborative and dynamic team.
Naturally, you will be provided training in TASS.web and Edumate software and join a team of like-minded, high-calibre IT professionals
You will join our growing Technical Services team, reporting to the Technical Services Manager.
Whilst flexible working arrangements are on offer, your home base will be our modern Brisbane office located in Hendra.
Role/Responsibilities:

Manage and maintain cloud-hosted customer environments, ensuring high availability and performance.
Provision and configure cloud infrastructure in AWS, supporting customer requirements and internal systems.
Complete customer cloud migration projects.
Architect solutions to complex customer and internal issues in the cloud.
Maintain internal business systems, including performing system upgrades, patching, and providing technical assistance as required.
Configure and deploy end-user devices for internal use, ensuring they are secure and functional.
Provide technical support for internal employees and troubleshoot IT issues as they arise.
Contribute to ongoing employee data security training initiatives.
Ensure completion of work is aligned with ISO27001 Information Security Management Systems standards.
Serve as a technical escalation point, triaging, investigating, and resolving Technical Services requests.
Collaborate with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to resolve software support issues.
Lead customer conversations related to cloud installations and technical support matters.
Participate in pre-sale technical conversations with prospective cloud customers.
Support the delivery of professional services, such as new school installations, server maintenance, and data refreshes.
Ensure effective communication with customers regarding technical issues and cloud-based solutions.
Architect and develop automated deployment scripts to improve operational efficiency.
Maintain a library of deployment scripts for cloud environments and internal systems.
Innovate and find creative ways to utilise automation internally.
Participate in an on-call rotation, providing after-hours support as required.
Be available for occasional after-hours work, including system updates, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
Key requirements for the role:

Degree in IT or a relevant field, or equivalent industry experience.
(Minimum 2 years in Cloud IT SysOps role)
At least one AWS or Azure certification (AWS Associate level certification highly desirable)
Strong written and verbal communication skills to engage effectively with both internal teams and external stakeholders.
Intimate experience with AWS services, including EC2, VPC, CloudFormation, Systems Manager, ELB, and Route 53, or equivalent Microsoft Azure services.
Extensive knowledge with Windows and/or Linux server administration.
Deep knowledge of web servers (e.g., IIS, Nginx) and application servers (e.g., Adobe ColdFusion, PHP).
Operation experience with relational databases such as Microsoft SQL Server or IBM DB2.
Knowledge of networking concepts such as DHCP, DNS, subnetting, routing, and VPNs.
Proficient in at least one scripting language like PowerShell, Python and Bash.
Experience in software deployment automation.
Proficient in 'infrastructure as code' tools/languages e.g., Cloudformation
Ability to troubleshoot and provide guidance with identity services (Active Directory, LDAP/SAML identity providers).
Understanding of ISO27001 ISMS compliance and practices and how they are applied in IT project management and automation (Highly desirable).
Deep understanding of the needs and expectations of the K-12 independent school sector (Highly desirable).
