Manage staff and oversee case management activities in Cairns District Office and contribute to the strategic direction of the Community Corrections Service in Queensland.
Responsibilities Manage the workload and work practices of staff.Supervise, motivate and appraise employee performance by providing feedback.Manage the training and professional development needs of staff.Coach and develop staff to effectively manage supervised individuals (covering referrals, interviews, file notes and risk awareness and assessment).Maintain knowledge of contemporary management practices and relevant legislation, policies, and procedures.Contribute to the knowledge base of the team.Adhere to the applicable Code of Conduct and manage staff breaches appropriately.Develop Human Resource Management plans for the office.Ensure application and compliance with contemporary Human Resource Management principles and relevant Industrial awards.Manage grievances and represent the Department at relevant appeals tribunals.Monitor financial statements and ensure compliance of budgets for the District.Devise and implement strategies to respond to budget trends.Maintain office accommodation and equipment to deliver services.Contribute to the creation and implementation of operational plans.Maintain a safe environment and exercise duty of care towards staff, supervised individuals, and the public.Facilitate effective supervision and improved reintegration of supervised individuals under community supervision orders.Oversee case management activities and appropriate allocation of caseloads within a risk management framework.Ensure accuracy and appropriateness of case notes and intervention reports.Ensure compliance with legislation and departmental procedures for managing supervised individuals.Audit case management plans and activities for continuity and consistency.Interact directly with supervised individuals to resolve issues.Ensure accuracy of records and data for the Integrated Offender Management system (IOMs).Ensure security of files and appropriate access for relevant staff and approved external agencies.Maintain knowledge of legislation, policy, and procedures in relation to supervised individual management.Identify and respond to risks in supervised individual management and liaise with the Regional Manager as required.Analyze external operating environment and contribute to strategies for risk minimization.Engage with relevant community agencies and support services.Promote the value of Community Corrections to the community.Provide timely advice and reports to courts, boards, and other agencies regarding supervised individuals.Build partnerships with sentencing authorities regarding community operations initiatives.Promote the activities of Community Corrections and develop relationships with service providers and the community.Ensure appropriate information exchange with the Queensland Police Service and other agencies for optimal supervised individual management.Applications to remain current for 12 months.
