Sydney Water has partnered with D4C to deliver design, construction, maintenance, and facilities management services across their southern region - from Bondi to Gerringong, and out to Georges River.D4C is seeking a Commercial Director to join our dynamic, diverse, and high performing team in an exciting time of growth. We need your skills and expertise to help Sydney Water deliver a $34 billion program over the next 10 years to build, maintain, and protect the future of our iconic water resources.Primary PurposeAs the Commercial Director, you'll manage D4C's contract portfolio based on the NEC4 suite of contracts, providing commercial and contract management ownership and expertise to the operational delivery teams and Commercial Leads. This senior leadership role will lead a team of commercial professionals focused on developing and executing commercial management strategies that enhance operational delivery, mitigate risk exposure, and maximise financial returns to the business.We foster collaboration, innovation, and a supportive atmosphere. We invite candidates from all backgrounds to apply, as we believe diversity drives success.Key AccountabilitiesCommercial Strategy Development - formulate and implement comprehensive commercial management strategies at the contract level (upstream and downstream), that enable the realisation of target margin performance.Contract Development and Negotiation - lead the negotiation, drafting, and execution of commercial contracts, ensuring clarity and compliance with legal and regulatory standards whilst enabling the business to achieve its growth targets.Contract Management - develop and implement contract management processes to monitor performance, compliance, and risk associated with commercial agreements.Contract Compliance and Risk Management - oversee contractual compliance with commercial governance standards and controls, identifying and mitigating risks to contractual performance.Reporting and Performance Management - establish and monitor key performance indicators related to contract performance and prepare reports for senior management, highlighting contract performance, risks, and recommendations for improvement.Minimum RequirementsMinimum 10 years' experience in a similar or transferable role.Experience in a commercial management role from a services environment.Previous experience working with the NEC4 suite of contracts is not essential but highly desirable.Tertiary qualification in law, business, commerce, or other related discipline.Proactive, flexible, and collaborative approach.Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills.The ability to influence major stakeholders and collaborate with colleagues in pre-contracts, operations, commercial, human resources, finance, and parent org Legal.Effective negotiating skills and the ability to resolve disputes.Strong capability in commercial strategy and an in-depth understanding of commercial models.The flexibility to adapt and drive changes in direction as commercial issues evolve.Significant experience in risk management.The ability to communicate important commercial matters to contract and project managers.Accuracy, attention to detail, and good writing skills.Advanced analytical capability.Value creation mindset.We welcome and encourage applications from diverse backgrounds, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, LGBTQIA+, people with disabilities, people with caring responsibilities, people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, and veterans.What's next?If this sounds like you, click 'Apply' and send an up-to-date CV outlining your skills and experience.
