Reporting to: Head of Library and Information ServicesAscham is an independent girls' school, and since its foundation in 1886 has educated girls who develop into confident, independent and compassionate young women with a sense of purpose in the world. We look for vibrant, dedicated and capable staff who have initiative, empathy, a good sense of humour and professional behaviour to achieve the School's objectives.Other:Term Time position only: Monday-Thursday 12.30pm-8.30pm; Friday 10am-6pmDuties and Responsibilities:The position is mainly based in the Margaret Bailey Library (Senior School). We expect the delivery of quality library and information services to staff and students.Promote, manage and maintain the library's digital resources. This includes:liaising with the Ascham IT Department and library supply vendors on access and authentication to digital resourcesmanaging and promoting digital resources including the ClickView digital video system; audio-visual resources and equipment; eBooks; digital subscriptions; the Ascham library websitesPerform circulation and active supervision duties as requiredAnswer student and staff reference queriesAssist with general library duties such as cataloguing and processing, weeding of resources, shelving, general Library tidiness, book covering and repairs, etc.Assist with cataloguing of archival materialsMinimum Requirements:TAFE Certificate in Library and Information ServicesExperience in a school or public libraryKnowledge of current digital technologies in education and collection management systemsExcellent skills in digital technologies including Microsoft Office and some experience with ClickView or a similar digital video delivery system.Experience with basic video editing software is an advantage, but not essential.Experience with basic website editing and designExcellent organisational and time management skills; can prioritise, show initiative and flexibility in completing tasksDemonstrated research skills and the ability to generate resources to assist with research tasks.Ability to provide an enthusiastic, positive, friendly and pro-active service to library users at all times.Highly developed interpersonal skills; be able to collaboratively work with the library team in a busy and varied environment.Understand and identify the ethical and legal aspects and the distribution of informationWillingness to undertake training in order to update skillsApplication process:The successful applicant will enjoy a stimulating work environment in a team of talented professionals, and attractive remuneration and benefits.Please apply via Seek with your cover letter and curriculum vitae (please include WWCC & First Aid and CPR details) and the names and contact details of two referees by COB 29th November 2024.
