Full-Time, Parramatta South Campus Full-Time, Ongoing Position Parramatta South Campus About the Whitlam Institute within Western Sydney University The Whitlam Institute commemorates, and is inspired by, the life and work of one of Australia's most respected Prime Ministers, the Hon Gough Whitlam AC QC.
As the custodian of the Whitlam legacy, the Whitlam Institute promotes the contemporary relevance of his vision of a more equal, open, tolerant and independent Australia across four pillars: the Whitlam Prime Ministerial Collection; its research and public policy program; its civics education and outreach program; and responsibility for making the historic Female Orphan School and the Whitlam Prime Ministerial Home centres for intellectual and cultural engagement for the people of Australia.
The Whitlam Institute at the Female Orphan School is a vibrant, multifaceted centre of ideas, culture, and arts, all within one of the most significant heritage sites in Australia.
The Opportunity You will play a key role in leading and coordinating all aspects of the Whitlam Institute's external facing communications.
You will lead a small, busy team to produce high-quality media, social media, marketing, and promotion as well as work with all forms of external relations to achieve the maximum impact for the work output of the Whitlam Institute.
You will work with the Director of the Whitlam Institute as well as the Institute Manager to align all communications to the Whitlam Institute Strategic Plan and operational goals as well as champion the values and mission of the Whitlam Institute to secure the Whitlam legacy for future generations.
Your key responsibilities will include managing the activities of the Public Relations team including delivery of high-quality external relations on behalf of the Whitlam Institute.
You will provide expert advice to the Director of the Whitlam Institute on all forms of media to showcase the Whitlam Institute.
You will be part of the leadership team when planning all aspects of the Whitlam Institute's activities.
You will be efficient and effective in your role and work collaboratively with the whole of the Whitlam Institute Team to achieve a well-balanced vibrant and effective media output that achieves cut through and impact.
About You You are a highly motivated and results-driven professional with a strong background in Public Relations and Communications.
You are up to date with all the latest trends in media and opportunities to reach a broader audience for the Whitlam Institute.
You thrive in dynamic environments and are skilled at balancing multiple priorities while delivering high-quality outcomes.
Your excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills enable you to manage teams effectively, work collaboratively with stakeholders, and drive successful projects.
Most importantly, you are passionate about contributing to an institution that fosters intellectual and cultural engagement and honours the legacy of Gough Whitlam and the Whitlam government.
