It is a key economic asset for businesses and people across Victoria and Australia.
Operating under a lease granted by the Victorian Government, Port of Melbourne's assets under management include significant port land, wharves and channels servicing one of the nation's key trade gateways.
PoM is committed to ensuring its infrastructure management operations are sustainable, responsible and fit for purpose to support the ongoing and growing Port of Melbourne.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Treasury and Corporate Finance, the role will support executive and board decision-making on a number of critical business activities including investment decisions, equity and assets valuation, budgeting and business planning, capital and tax structuring/regulatory strategy analysis, capital project assessments, and long-term strategic/master planning assessments, and other strategic decision-making and commercial negotiations support.
Key accountabilities:
Conduct in-depth financial analysis for investment decisions, equity and asset valuations, and strategic projects.
Provide detailed assessments of significant value opportunities and risk mitigation strategies.
Analyse value drivers and their implications on business performance.
Support the update and maintenance of PoM's fully integrated corporate model suite.
Ensure models are accurate and up-to-date with the latest financial data and assumptions.
Support the preparation of quarterly corporate model updates.
Prepare comprehensive analysis summaries, reports, and presentations for senior management, shareholders, and other stakeholders.
Provide support in financial analysis for strategic projects and significant value opportunities.
Mentor and coach junior analysts, providing guidance and support for their development.
Contribute to the development and execution of team goals and objectives.
Identify and suggest new and better ways and approaches to improve efficiency and enhance business value.
Ideally you will have:
Advanced financial modelling skills, experience with 3-way (BS, PL & CFS) financial modelling, and familiarity with Excel modelling best practices.
Prior experience with VBA coding and macros will be highly favourable.
Detailed understanding of corporate finance principles, including valuation and capital structures.
Experience with applying accounting theory to financial analysis, including: Financial statement relationships & impacts.
Depreciation.
Tax (and associated SPV Structuring), etc.
Sound understanding of commercial drivers of infrastructure assets, and an understanding of the regulatory environment in Australia will be useful but not compulsory.
Ideally trained within Business Modelling/Valuation/Corporate Finance teams in a professional services firm, with 5-7 years of relevant experience.
