Why this role matters The Salvation Army Australia's Homelessness Stream provides high-quality, person-centred services to people at risk, and or experiencing homelessness.
We support adults and families, including accompanying children with accommodation, case management, outreach support, financial assistance, connection and referral to other specialist services.
About the role We are seeking a values-driven and proactive Community Engagement Activity Coordinator at our Darwin location.
Reporting to the Program Manager, this is a permanent, full-time position.
This role requires the ability and willingness to be on call and work outside normal business hours, as required.
Salary and conditions are in accordance with the SCHADS Award, level 4.
You will successfully Plan, implement, and organise activities that meet participants identified needs and wants, in line with service delivery objectives, TSA mission, policy, and procedure.
Provide group facilitation, advocacy, referrals, liaising with other services providers and stakeholders both verbally, face to face and via emails.
Support participants with arranging and attending appointments with a focus on health promotion and therapeutic needs.
Be proactive in organising cultural activities for participants including yarning circles, meetings with families, or stakeholders.
Support the program manager / team leader and homelessness staff in developing their knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture.
Provide opportunity for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to connect with their community, families, and culture.
Identify and implement ways to involve Indigenous clients in the ongoing development of services.
You will have (Requisite Skills & Qualifications) Qualifications (min.
certificate IV) in community services or similar.
Well-developed communication skills and confidence in group training and public speaking.
Experience working with people who may not have English as a first language and knowledge of Local Aboriginal Communities and Culture.
In-depth knowledge of local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and culture.
A Working with Children (Ochre Card) Vulnerable people check is required.
A NT Drivers Licence.
Ability and willingness to be on call and work outside normal business hours, as required.
