The Child and Adolescent Unit at the Mackay Base Hospital is seeking applications for a Clinical Nurse to join their team on a temporary basis.
Your opportunity
The Clinical Nurse provides advanced level clinical skills to ensure patient-focused evidence-based nursing care, plans and coordinates the clinical management of patient/client care and provides leadership and support to other nursing staff within the Child and Adolescent Unit.
About the Team
The Child and Adolescent Unit comprises of a 12-bed inpatient paediatric ward, paediatric outpatient clinic and paediatric ambulatory care unit.
The Ambulatory Care Unit comprises Diabetes Educator Clinical Nurse, Chronic Illness Clinical Nurse and Paediatric Outreach Clinical Nurse, also Clinical Nurse Consultant Paediatric Haematology/Oncology Case Manager.
The Child and Adolescent Unit caters for children with medical, surgical, orthopaedic, mental health and oncology conditions from 3 days to 17 years.
This Unit liaises closely with the district rural facilities, acting as the referral centre for their patients and has tertiary referral to Townsville, Queensland Children's Hospital and Mater Children's Hospitals in Brisbane.

The district covers an area of approximately 90,000km2 and provides services to patients and their families in Bowen, Cannonvale, Clermont, Collinsville, Dysart, Glenden, Mackay, Middlemount, Moranbah, Proserpine and Sarina.
